Midshipman EDMOND LUCAS (known at home as Jack).
The Captain of his ship wrote and gave these details: the ships were in collision following enemy activity, and Jack went over-board with some shipmates to help in the rescue work. In the words of the Captain "He most assuredly gave his life to save others and he died serving his country as surely as if he hadbeen killed in actual action with the enemy. We feel very proud of our twenty-year old boy."
Edmond Lucas appeared here in the Roll of Honour, however his time at St George's was not recorded in the Archives here. If you have more information on Edmond please contact us
